As we wrapped up the year 2020, the dining and restaurant mobile application space in Australia demonstrated varied user engagement and download trends. Here's an insight into how the top five apps in this category performed on a unified platform in the fourth quarter, based on data from Sensor Tower.

MyMacca's, the official app of McDonald’s Australia Limited, saw downloads peaking at approximately 109K in the first week of November and then gradually declining to around 26K by the end of December. Weekly active users started strong at around 489K and reached their peak at approximately 677K in early November, before dipping to about 414K by the year's end.

Domino's experienced a significant spike in downloads during the second week of October with about 83K downloads, followed by a steady decrease to roughly 17K by late December. The active users mirrored this trend with a peak of around 154K in the same week of October, dropping off to about 79K by the close of the quarter.

KFC - Order On The Go by KFC Australia showed a high in downloads in the first week of October at approximately 35K, with a general downward trend to around 22K towards the end of December. The weekly active users saw a peak of around 284K in early October, with a slight fluctuation and a final count of about 253K active users by the end of December.

Hungry Jack’s Deals & Ordering, from HUNGRY JACK'S AUSTRALIA PTY LTD, maintained a relatively stable download rate ranging from 15K to 19K across the quarter. The weekly active users experienced a slight increase from approximately 150K in late September to a peak of about 157K in late November, ending the quarter with around 146K active users.

Lastly, Boost Juice by Retail Zoo, saw its downloads fluctuate modestly between 5K and 9K throughout the quarter. The active users of the app showed a gradual increase from around 21K in late September to a peak of nearly 24K in late November, before slightly declining to roughly 22K active users by the end of December.
